Launch of The Wale Omole Foundation for Virtues and Ethics in Yoruba Culture

The Wale Omole Foundation revealed its logo and initiatives to the public on August 22, 2024.

The Wale Omole Foundation for Virtues and Ethics in Yoruba Culture, is committed to empowering local farmers and underprivileged individuals to ensure food security in Nigeria. The Foundation, dedicated to promoting Yoruba cultural heritage, believes in the interconnection between human integrity and empowerment. It advocates that healthcare delivery and food self-sufficiency are key to fostering sustainable livelihoods and thriving communities. These themes were emphasized during the Foundation’s launch event at The Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Foundation plans to host the IWA Festival of Virtues on October 22, 2024, which will include the MLB (Omoluabi) awards to honor Yoruba cultural heritage. Attendees will immerse themselves in Yoruba language, art, music, dance, folklore, and spirituality. The event will also feature the launch of a book titled “Thanks Living,” authored by the Foundation’s founder, Professor Wale Omole.

Professor Omole, who serves as the Chairman of the Editorial Board at The Guardian Newspapers and a former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill his life’s ambition. In his address, he emphasized that economic empowerment is crucial for upholding individual and societal integrity. He highlighted that the Foundation’s mission is to create a more equitable future by focusing on education, community development, and cultural preservation.

The Foundation aims to support educational initiatives, improve infrastructure, provide scholarships, and promote teacher training programs. In community development, the Foundation is committed to fostering sustainable livelihoods, encouraging entrepreneurship, and improving access to essential services. The organization also seeks to celebrate Yoruba culture, promoting unity and a sense of belonging.

The CEO of the Foundation, Mr. Babatunde Olowu, praised Professor Omole for his lifelong dedication to truth, integrity, and excellence, noting that Omole’s journey has made him a beacon of hope for many. At 82, Professor Omole leads a mission to restore the dignity of the Yoruba people and revive the enduring spirit of the Omoluabi.

Mr. Olowu further explained that the Foundation’s agricultural training programs aim to empower local farmers with the tools and resources needed to achieve self-sustainability, ensuring food security and fostering thriving communities. He also stressed the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access by providing essential medical services and facilities to underserved areas, thereby investing in the overall wellbeing of society.
